Pickier (formerly Job Lobster) is a job-search assistant. It helps you build a profile from your résumé, a voice intro, or a guided Q&A; scores public job postings against that profile; and drafts cover letters and tailored résumés that you review before sending.
This page describes what data the app collects, how it's used, and who sees it. Plain English first; the legalese is at the end.
Data the app collects
| Category | What | Why we have it | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address | Magic-link sign-in | Encrypted account store |
| Profile | Résumé text, voice transcript, Q&A answers, target titles, work-auth, salary preferences | Powers job matching and draft generation | Encrypted database (at rest) |
| Job interactions | Matches you saved / dismissed / applied to, your notes, drafts you generate | Tracking your own job hunt | Encrypted database |
| Device | APNs device token (when push enabled) | Daily-match notifications | Encrypted database + push service |
| Usage analytics | In-app events, device model, OS and app version, a pseudonymous user ID, never your email | Understand which features help and where the flow loses people | Third-party analytics (US region) |
| Crash & performance | Crash stack traces, app-hang and load-time telemetry | Find and fix bugs | Third-party analytics (US region) |
| Operational | Token-usage and timing per AI call (no profile content); a last-active timestamp | Cost monitoring, debugging, pausing matching for inactive accounts | Encrypted database |
Analytics events never contain your profile content, résumé text, drafts, or the jobs you viewed. They are feature-usage signals only.
We do not collect: contacts, location, photos, calendar, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't use your data for advertising.
How your data is used
- Job matching. Your profile is sent to a third-party AI provider to score postings against it. The request is your profile plus the public posting text. Under that provider's API terms, inputs are not used for training.
- Draft generation. Same channel: your profile + the posting → the AI provider → a draft. Drafts are stored in your account and never leave it except when you tap Share.
- Push notifications. If enabled, Apple's push service receives an opaque device token, used to send a daily summary of your top matches.
- Product analytics & crash reporting. Usage events and crash reports go to a third-party analytics provider. Events are tied to your account UUID (pseudonymous), not your email.
- Job-source fetching. When ingesting jobs from public job sources, we call their public endpoints. We don't send your profile to them.
- User-pasted job URLs. Jobs you add via the + button join a shared cache other users may see in their matches: the URL, extracted title/company/description, and source-id. Your profile is not shared.
Who sees your data
- You: full access via the app and (if you ask) export.
- The operator of this app: administrative access to the hosted database.
- Our AI provider: receives prompts containing your profile + job text during scoring and drafting.
- Apple: receives push tokens and push payload titles/bodies (which include the top-matched company name).
- Our analytics provider: receives the usage-analytics and crash data described above. No profile content, no résumé text, no drafts.
- Job-source providers: receive only HTTP requests for their public listings. They don't receive your profile.
- No other third parties. No advertising, no profiling vendors, no email marketing, no data sales.
Retention & deletion
- Account, profile, matches, drafts, device tokens, and operational logs are retained as long as your account exists.
- Self-serve deletion: Profile → Delete account permanently removes your account and everything attached to it.
- Analytics and crash data held by our analytics provider expire on that platform's standard retention schedule.
- The shared job-postings cache retains pasted-URL parses indefinitely: public posting content only, nothing tied to you.
This website
This website uses a third-party analytics provider for traffic analytics: page views, clicks on the "Get it on the App Store" buttons, and which of the rotating homepage headlines you were shown, so we can learn which messaging actually helps people. It is first-party product analytics, not advertising: no ad trackers, no cross-site tracking, no sale of data. Email-yourself messages carry a small tag in the subject line (e.g. "[ritual]") identifying the headline you saw, for the same reason.
Children
This app is not intended for users under 16. Don't use it if you are.

If we change what data is collected or how it's used, this page will be updated and (for material changes) you'll see a notice in the app.
